Join our Board of Directors! We are seeking locals and second homeowners who are passionate about Lake Windermere's ecological and recreational health, to volunteer as Directors on our governance board. Join a group of committed citizens that are helping give back to our community. We are concerned with protecting & helping manage the lake for all current and future users. No experience is needed, just a passion for the lake and a desire to learn more about it.

6:00 - 7:45pm on 4th Thursday of the month

Required Qualifications

As per the BC Societies' Act: - At least 18 years of age - Capable of managing their own affairs - Is not undergoing bankruptcy - Has not been convicted of fraud or corporate offence within last 5 years

Position Responsibilities

Directors' Responsibilities: (1) Commit 2-3 hours per month for attending board meeting, reviewing minutes/agendas, and communicating with the Coordinator; (2) Attend monthly board meetings, either in-person or virtually (no meetings are held in December or August); (3) Attend the AGM in mid-March.

Volunteer Benefits

Directors can expect to: (1) gain a thorough understanding of the lake, and play a direct role in its management and stewardship; (2) help shape the future of the Lake Windermere Ambassadors and of Lake Windermere, by deciding which project work is submitted for funding; (3) make sure that local government and residents stay current with the health of the lake, and keep up to date with the recommendations and objectives of the Lake Windermere Management Plan; (4) contribute to local government decision-making by sitting as part of the Lake Management Committee and commenting on development referrals. Directors join a group of passionate, informed, and committed people! Our meetings are casual and inviting. Drinks and food or snacks are often brought and welcomed at meetings. Feel free to contact us if you would like to drop in on a meeting to see what it's like and meet the current board. We currently meet on the 4th Thursday of the month, at 6:00pm, at our office (located at 625 4th Street, Invermere, BC). The monthly meeting time and date can be changed to accommodate all board members, so if you're considering the role but think that this date might not work for you, just let us know! We can be flexible.
